However, typical Guatemalan dishes can be cooked and delivered directly to the house.

Chocolate Museum

The chocolate museum is situated on the north side of Central Park. Cacao trees, the source of chocolate, were first domesticated by the Mayans. In this interesting site you can learn all about the history of chocolate. or you can even sign up for a class and learn how to make your own chocolate bar.

One of the best views of the city is obtained from here. A hike up from the church, La Merced to the cross, will give you quite a bit of exercise. Tuk Tuks are available if you wish help up or down the hill.

This arch is probably the most photographed scene of Antigua. Years ago, cloistered nuns occupied the buildings on both sides of the street. They were not allowed to interact with outside individuals. A passageway exists above the street through which they could pass unseen from one building to the other.

The building and grounds of this church are beautiful to see. When you visit La Merced, make sure to take the stairwell to the rooftop. The view is exquisite.
